Unhappy computer keeps stalling completely

hi,
i am a new user of lw and dont know if my problem is self made please help !!!
when i play my downloads it suddenly stalls the track in player and when i try to stop the player the whole program almost instantly followed by the computer stalls. i can then only exit it by ctrl alt and dlt. then if i try just restarting the program it stalls instantly upon trying to play another track.
I have to restart the whole computer for it to play again and its getting to the point where i want to take my hammer to it !!!!!
I operate a toshiba portege 7020ct with windows98 pentium2 on cable modem please help me to solve this problem and save the laptop from the hammer!!!!!!!!

i'm not sure, how would i find this out, i am not that clued up on these machines and all the help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

It sound like a problem with your Limwewire player, and I would suggest dissabling it and using another media player of your choice to play the files.

in Limewire's options or preferences>player you can dissable the player, and then click apply>ok. and if you go to your download folder (not the Limewire Library) and right click on a music file and select to play it with another media player and see what happens.

If you have problems following me, or if this doesn't work either, `it would greatly help us to know the RAM capabilities and the Free space available on your computer as well as the processor speed. I suspect you will find these things out in the controll panel, but I use a Mac and I really do not know my way around a PC

i have disabled my limewire player and am now using my media player which seems to have cured the problem at last. its a bit of a pain because i cant use my enque option but its so much better than all the hassle i had with the other one.
sorry it took so long to get back to you but have had loads to do this week.
