Default Dissappearing files!

I have recently downloaded limewire v.4.9 on my windows xp.

I have created a "Download" folder in my limewire folder in program files, and adjusted settings so that the songs I download go into that folder.
After I download songs, I close the Limwire program, and when I open it, all the files i've previously downloaded have dissappeard!! they're not in the trash can, and when I separately open the "download" folder (meaning not in the library) they're not there either... I don't know what had happend... please help!

Please explain how you adjusted the settings for the new folder: might give us a clue.

well, i think it's part of the installation process where you are able to choose which file your downloaded files go into, and I created a new file in the Limewire folder and chose it.
i hope this helps...

1. The program folder is not a good place to store your downlds. What happens if you want to update your LW version? Your downld folder & incomplete files will most likely disappear since the installer will remove/delete/replace the program folder.

2. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Saving & change the Days to keep incomplete files, to 999 days. Press apply button.

3. Normally the default location for downlds is: C:\Documents and Settings\"your account name"\Shared
but it sounds like yours are not there. Go to your LW Library window, select Saved Files folder & press the Explore button. Sample image here: Using Library Explore button to access downld folder (click on link) The folder will open up for you. Are your downlds in there?

4. Before shutting down your computer, make sure LW is fully closed. Otherwise it will corrupt your download preferences.
