i have been using limewire for a year and i just started getting this error message. it keeps sayin limewire is not able to write a necessary file because you dont have the ncessary permissions. your prefrances may not be maintained the next time you start limewire, or limewire may behave in unexpected ways. maybe someone can tell me if they ever heard of this and how to get rid of it.

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 in Fixes for Limewire (sample at bottom of page.)

It sounds more like a system problem but try the above & see how it goes.

Which version of LW do you have?
Is there any other software you've installed or system updates or system changes you've made that may have caused this? Any changes to LW's setup? Which operating system version are you using?

I think one of XP's recent updates reverts many settings back to default or makes changes to some settings.
