limewire dissapeared

HI, My limewire also dissapeared, with all my folders, usic, movies and files. Equally, limewire refuses to recognize my email which I used to purchase the updated program. In fact only the limewire basic exe program still remains in my files. This is very suspicious. Limewire, what's the deal?

Perhaps because you didn't actually pay your money to LW. See Membership? - **WARNING ** - Download p2p Clients ONLY Thru Official Sites (click link) How much did you pay? Check your banking details -> statement & see who was the receiver of the payment. Perhaps phone your C/C card co.

Some scam site tell you you're getting pro & then give you a link to the basic version.

I paid my membership to upgrade to 4.0.6 a long time ago, well over a year. That has nothing to do with why my song list was erased and the complete program, including the installer.
The program was showing a warning box claiming problems, and then t erased my entire collection. Fortunately I had everything except the downloads from last week saved on disks.
I have upgraded my membership to Limwire and the files did not return, in fact, limewire erased my 3.0 series and all those files, in order to upgrade my program.
Go explain that.

I don't have many details of yours in front of me. But it sounds like you were saving your downlds to the program folder (very unwise!) Installation over this folder will replace the folder. If you were using an earlier version & you used the Repair option, then this may have reinstalled over the top of the folder. Version 3 is next to obsolete & not good for the network anyway. Explain why x/y+3=z Well it's hard to explain when I don't have the values (details supplied.) I can only guess from my perspective. And it sounds like the way you had it set up was the issue.

LW pro offers 6 mths of free updates & customer support. Once 6 mths is up your name would be removed from their database. That's why your email was not recognised. Perhaps you can ask customer support why LW has removed your files. I would supply them a few more details though. Such as where you were saving your files to. I've guessed you're a windows user since you mentioned LW.exe

I would understand if I had saved my files to the program, but this was not the case.
I received several messages saying there was an internal error.
I didn't download over a program or use a non existant repair function. There was simply no trace of the program.
I reinstalled the LW3.xx series and somehow found a few songs, my songs from A to B to be exact, but the rest of my listing were missing. When I upgraded it installed over my program and the now empty folders were deleted, and only my songs from A to B were left.
I have them on disc, and I'm considering changing to frostwire and cancelling my subscription to LW, since there was access to my computer from somewhere. I am of the belief it was to urge me to buy the upgrade, and I don't find that appealing, expecially sinc they cannot be contacted at all for questions or problems.
It's not service oriented and that's unacceptable.

Well I don't understand how your problem occured. But that was a very old version. You say the files or folders suddenly reappeared after reinstalling LW 3. That means they were still on your computer. Have you searched your computer using the search engine. Search .mp3 or whatever type of files you were downlding & sharing?

The issue might also be a system problem. Have you done any system maintenance of late - checking the drive, defragging, etc. with your system & 3rd party utilities. Have you checked your system with an AV program with up to date definitions? You're probably aware that over the past 9-10 mths, many viruses have appeared on the network. Have also you checked your system with 1. ad-ware (FREE), & also
2. Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE) BTW I don't work for LW. I just use the program (& FW) & help out (volunteer) on this forum (which is not owned or run by the LW.org) If you're a present pro user, then why not go to LW support for help: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/support.shtml

FrostWire is fine. If you want to go with FW then do it. Make a fresh start.

I checked with spybot, and will also check with ad ware. spy bot had some LW files blocked and that turned out to be my A-B songs file. I'll definately run the search again with the extensions only. Great idea! thanks.
All my definitions are up to date, Norton system works is my guardian. I can handle stuff like routine maintenance, and i'm overdue on the defrag, but I don't think it was all due to that.
I think the program had some errors and one of my protector programs deleted all but the listing on my control panel.

I read where another person had the same experience but he had some solutions that suggested changiing the eextension on his back up files to .dat.....I tried it but my computer won't allow it.
Either way, I'm taking a close look at my system for any other issues that may be looming. Thanks for your help and concern.
Regards
