Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. WMP and LimeWire cross compatibility OK, so say I have some of my OWN music on a cd, and I want to share it with LimeWire. The only way I know how to get my music off my CD is to use Windows Media Player to use the "copy from CD" option. That uploads my files off my CD as WMA files. How do I get those out of the playlist in WMP and into a NORMAL windows folder to allow sharing of them through LimeWire? It seems to me that anything I upload off a CD with WMP stays in WMP, and I can't seem to find where WMP stores the files to share the folder on LimeWire. Does that make any sense? Or is there a way to upload files off a CD other than via Windows Media Player? I realize windows stuff is generally junk, but I don't know what other way to do it. And is there any way to copy them off the CD as MP3 files rather than WMA files? WMA kinda sux. Ahh, I'm such a stupid newbie... Help. |

Ahh, cool. I already have itunes downloaded on this system... I'll see what I can find if I dig through it closer. I never use it, I only installed it so I could view mac videos. Any Idea what I need to click on to get to the CD upload feature? |

help again OK, got itunes open, inserted CD into PC. Itunes recognised it, and loaded the list of all the songs into the window. Now, when I go to Advanced, these are the options I get: Switch to Miniplayer Open Stream Convert Selection to AAC Consolidate Library Get CVD Track Names Submit CD Track Names Join CD Tracks Deauthorize Computer Check For Purchased Music That's my options under the Advanced tab. I DO have a little buttom off to the side that says "Import", is THAT what I need to click on to copy the files onto the computer? |

Never mind, I just tried it, and yeah, it works great. Thanks a lot man, I appreciate the help. This is MUCH easier than dealing with WMP. Just so you know for the next Windows idiot, On Windows, Itunes has got a round button all by itself on the upper righthand side of the program window. It's got a picture of a sheet of music and an arrow pointing towards the center of it, and below it, it says Import. It turns neon blue when ya click on it. It works great. I am, however nervous about the occasional whirring noise coming from my CD drive... I will never be the same after watching that episode of MythBusters where they exploded CDs to test the myth of deadly CD drives and killer CD shrapnel. Ah, yeah, thanks again! I found the way to make em MP3's instead. Then I just used the "clear list" feature and that erased all the ones in AAC format. Now I'm re-Importing them as MP3's. Edit-Preferences-Importing Then there's a drop down menu to choose the format in. I only tell you this in case someone else might be reading and be needing it, or if you ever get asked again... LOL, Just so you know, I'm NOT a huge Seals and Crofts fan, I just grabbed that CD as a trial, I figured if I half-uploaded it and then somehow ended up not being able to get them to work, but unable to erase them either, I wasn't out much if I was never able to get the CD to ever upload after that. (Ok, so I am a bit paranoid) I guess I'm doing the sharing right since you seem to be able to see what I am doing? Can I share anything on my computer, not just music files? Is this secure, or can people get into my other stuff as well? LimeWire only allows access to the specific folders I choose, right? Is Itunes also allowing sharing? And if so, How do I make them both see the same folder and share the same things? Is there something I need to adjust? I have my Lime Wire set to share a folder named mydocs-MUSIC, and Itunes is sharing something deep under it's program folders like c-programfiles-itunes-itunes music. Would I need to move everything in the two folders into one of them, and then reset a setting somewhere in each program so they both point to the same folder? |
