Unhappy General running of Limewire...

I am reasonably new to this medium so forgive me if I am in the wrong place. Your redirection will be heeded.
My problem is that for some reason I am not able to get any version of Limewire to RUN without 'STICKING'. It takes only a few seconds of running before I get the dreaded "Internal Error" noitces and they come pretty fast and often. The mouse can take up to 5 minutes to get from the bottom of the sceen to the top most times.
I have even downloaded and installed the latest beta version and it just keeps happening. I have to resort to CTRL/ALT/DEL to exit the programme most times.
I have and AMD ATHLON 1800 with 1.5 gig of ram. The latest version of Java. Windows XP home with all the updates. DSL connection with D_slam (24mb/sec) and all port numbers have been entered in both the firewall and router.
I have no problems logging on but all the trouble in the world trying to stop it from being 'STCKY'. It doesnt matter if I am running other programmes at the same time or not, The same thing happens.Limewire just kills the computer's smooth running ability.
I have uninstalled, cleaned cookies and temp files. rebooted, done viri and spyware checks and rebooted before installations too.
I have also reinstalled with firewall and antivirus software turned off. I have also rebooted the computer before logging on to lime wire.
I havent had this trouble before, it just something that has developed within the past 2 weeks...It takes over the entire computer and once the Limewire has been shut down the computer behaves normally.
HEEEELLLP. I dont know what else to do.

1. Use points 1 & 2 here: Fixes for Limewire ie: reinstall Java using the "Offline" installer, & delete your LW preferences folder.

2. Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

3. Don't rush into using LW after you open it. Let it settle for 10-20 mins before using. Also, don't use the Resume/Find Sources on all your files if you use it at all, this WILL have the effect of using up all your computer's resources! If you use this function, use it on only one to 3 files at once. Also don't downld too many files at one time.

4. See the following link & follow “ALL” the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help: To continue files downlding (click on link)
