Unhappy Does not recognize e-mail address for update

Tried to update limewire. It does not recognize my e-mail address and there is no phone number to contact limewire. How do I get my update? You only have to pay once right? Should I pay again?

Unhappy PURCHASED LIMEWIRE PRO+6MONTHS AGO: EMAIL NOT RECOGNIZED FOR RE-UPLOADING!!

When posting, please include details for:
WINDOWS XP
Your version of your Gnutella Client
Your Internet connection (CABLE)
The exact error message, if one pops uP: "email not recognized"

1.Purchased LIMEWIRE PRO ****more than 6 months ago***; had program removed from my computer b/c the university system recognized it inadvertently running and shut my access to the internet off(although I set it to NOT run while on the University's internet system).

2. When I went to upload Limewire PRO again, the Limewire system did not recognize my email address.

3. SO, since customer service responds only to PRO customers, I was out of luck for getting a customer rep. email address.

4. Instead, the Limewire website said please post to the forum if you have any other questions and a moderator will answer if you leave your email:

Please respond--I have already paid for a service and limewire would do well to update its database to recognize customers who have purchased pro over 6 months ago! Thank you!

Default I have old version and it won't work at ALL!

Yeah I still have the old version. But It won't work at all. I figured I needed to update and then I couldn't. Whats with that?

Lightbulb re: Don't Delete Limewire w/o backing program files elsewhere

Thanks Only A Hobo,

I'll check my an older IBM computer for Limewire--which was never deleted, backup the files onto a removable device of some sort, and then try to upload the backed-up Limewire files onto my newer IBM, where the program was deleted a couple of months ago.

chronicicedtea which older version do you have? Perhaps we can help you solve your problem if we know more details about your set up. Knowing which version you're using is extremely important. All details are important.

1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 in Fixes for Limewire (sample at bottom of page.) Try other options on that page!

eliz no need to update unless you feel the urge. If you're happy with what you have then stick with it. LW 4.10 has a spam filter & fixed some bugs LW 4.9 had. But there were many 4.9 versions which had bugs. If you have LW 4.8.1 then stick to it for the time being!

I have 4.8.1. Is that too old to use or something?

Well I wouldn't get rid of LW 4.8.1 in a hurry if I were you. I think it is a very good version. Some of the LW 4.9 versions have been a little buggy & also behave a little differently. There's been reports 4.10 may have a couple of bugs also. But if LW 4.8.1 isn't working, then we should look at why. You don't suppose the school has brought in filters to stop p2p sharing do you? It's (shaping or filtering or blocking) been or is being introduced to most schools nowadays. Did you try those options I suggested in my previous post?

As far as Pro goes, the site's Pro support pages are temporarily offline at present. It may take a few days before it gets fixed, I don't know. But once 6 mths of pro support has finished, your email will be removed from their database. It's automated. You're free to downld the Basic version & use that. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml
