![]() Hi first post on here, so bear with me ![]() I upgraded to LW4.10.0 recently, and have noticed massive slowdown on my comp when running it. I checked in Task Manager, and it seems that LW wants to take up 90%+ of my CPU, and well over 50Mb of memory... Given that my computer is an Athlon64 2800+, with a gig of RAM, I though this a little odd... (rest of specs FYI; Win XPsp2, Asus K8N, Radeon 9800Pro, Audigy2, latest drivers/updates for all) So, did a bit of researching on here, and found these threads. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ystem+slowdown http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=50201 http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420 And followed the advice in them; Cleared the download queue (even though I only had 9 active downloads), and also played around with the preferences from the fifth post in the first link. No difference. checked java, already had v5u6 deleted the .limewire folder (remembering my settings), no difference (even after letting it load all my files again). tried setting the priority of LW to belowNormal and Low in task manager, no noticeable affect. Final thing I tried was to remove both the Java and LW installs from the computer, download the offline installers, and reinstall Java first, then Limewire. (as suggested in the 2nd link) Guess what, that appeared to have done the trick. Limwire is now using a more respectable 24% of CPU (although Mem is up at 70mb now...), and my computer was back to running nice and smoothly Bet you thought the problem had been cracked right... wrong ![]() In the space of 10mins with limewire open, it has all gone back to as before! Argh nightmare! Any more sugestions? Thanks in advance Ed |

![]() Hi TryHard, Have a look at: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=50045 Some of the things in here you've tried before, but have a look at the last post (HeadCraft). Maybe... ![]() |

![]() Hi, I'll try defraging and see if that has an affect... although I still have 15% left on my 120GB drive, and 25% left on my 80gb... so don't know if it will have an affect. for more info, I'm currently sharing about 250files, and they are only on the 80gb drive. Cheers for the helps so far. Ed |

![]() I don't think defragging will work. I suggest downloading Java 1.4 instead of 1.5, it's still supported to the best of my knowledge. LimeWire has been known to not play nicely with 1.5 on some systems for no apparent reason. |

![]() On my comp LW sits at between 3 and 8CPU, and 65mb memory. So that's probably what the aim should be =) You might also want to try Registry Mechanic, the Windows registry can do some weird things when it's cluttered. As long as we're clutching for straws at least =) It's made by PCTools, just Google it because I don't know what the URL rules are on the forum. |

![]() This is probably just a shot in the dark but you might want to try and uninstall LimeWire and Java again. Then go in and find your .limewire folder and delete it again. After you complete this download Java the offline installer and LimeWire from the official site. Install Java first then install LimeWire. This sounds like a Java issue you should only be using 1 to 3% of your CPU with LimeWire. http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml |
