Question A really strange virus?

I wasn't sure where to post this as i'm not even sure if it has anything to do with Limewire. Recently a really strange thing has been happening on my girlfriend's computer.

Every now and then miscrosoft paint will open up by itself and an image of a star will be drawn. And apparently it resembles the symbol of satan.

Has anyone had this before or does anyone know what to do?

Run antivirus, spyware & adware scans.
Be careful what you download, especially programs - they're often infected. See also:

Much appreciated.

Well as of now, if seems the virus has made another user account on the computer. Also, when task manager is opened, at the top it says "warning, you are infected" or something along those lines.

Obviously we have tried scanning (using AVG, Search and destroy and Adware), but it tells us to shut down the computer before it has a chance to finish.

If I was you I would disconnect from the Internet if you have a virus that has created a user account then there is a good chance it is accessing the Internet and sending everything on your computer to someone. And if you anti virus is telling you to shut down then shut the damm thing down take it to a computer shop and have it fixed .

I have never heard of a virus that could set up a user account this has to be a new virus and it sounds like a very dangerous one at that.

Actually the people at TheTechGuide Forum are a free service and use a program called "Hijack this" from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html to assist users with getting rid of what ails their PC.

You would

1. Download a program called "Hijack this" from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
Also please read How to post a Hijackthis log You want to follow the instructions there and make your first Hijackthis log before they begin to help you delete the viruses, worms, spyware. Your first Hijackthis log needs to show your system the way it is now.

2. Post your log and what has been happening with your computer in their Tech Clinic area and wait for them to answer. Don't just start deleting stuff from your computer; wait for them to help!

3. They are great! Even with the toughest viruses/spyware/worms they can help, and it's free!

Good luck.

Start her computer in safe mode, that should help. otherwise you're gonna have to format the hard drive.
