Install of v.1.7d on a Win2k won't work

I don't have a solution. I'm having the exact same problemo; I'm running Win2k Professional, and get an InstallShield error message "1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance". After going thru all the threads, I realize that Install problems are rampant. If anyone has a solution, plz let us know.

Thanks

same problem

I had the same problem, until I installed natively in admin mode, which I don't like to do. The installer can't write the spyware into windows if you don't run it in admin. If you're doing that, I don't know what to tell you.

If you have not tried the LimeWire 1.8c installer (released on Saturday, Nov. 24 (four days ago), I would strongly recommend trying that installer. Let me know if this one still gives you these problems.

I am writing in response to Adam Fisk's reply, Adam I think alot of machines are having huge problems running 1.8c under Win2k and WinXP I have two machines with both those OS's installed and LIMEWIRE 1.8c doesnt work under either one of them, I keeo getting a javaw.exe error so I downloaded all the necessary plugins and re-installed 1.8c and still it doesnt work, it shuts down after it opens for a sec. Is there a need for a separate version for NT, 2K and XP users? what is the solution?

It sounds like Cydoor is not getting installed correctly on your system.

Try downloading this file and running it:

http://www9.limewire.com/developer/cydoor.exe

This will install cydoor (the ad engine) on your system silently. Once you have run cydoor.exe, try running LimeWire again.

Thanks!
