The differences between LW Basic & Pro are almost none except in the workings under the hood so to speak. The functions are identical. To chat, you'll need to enable it. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Chat & tick the option for chat & press apply. Then go to the search result window & right-click the top of the column bar & choose Show Chat. Do this also with the downld window & the upload window (in the Monitor tab.) This will show a chat column which will show the hosts that have chat enabled. Those that are will show a small smiley sun in this column. Right-click one & choose chat to open up a chat window with that host. Type in what you want to say & press send.

You should be aware however that many people leave LW running overnight or whilst they're at work or school or hidden in the task bar or hidden in the background whilst they do other things.

BTW those that have chat enabled are easier to browse & direct connect to. That's especially true for the upload window.

Note that the chances of opening a chat window, even if everything seems in order are slim, and the chances of conducting a 2 way chat .. even slimmer... Good luck!:)
