Error: 1607 InstallShield error

When installing, it's quick and ok up until it after I tell it that it may install ISSCript.MSI, the InstallShield Script Runtime. That aborts the whole process. What gives?

I encountered the same problem and here is what I did. First, I downloaded and installed the Java2M Runtime Environment as indicated on the Download page:

**Users who download this version must already have the Java2TM Runtime Environment, v. 1.3.1 (JRE) installed. You can get the JRE from the Sun web site at: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/jre/

Then I rebooted my computer and began to install LimeWire again and it installed just fine.

Thanks-- I didn't have Java 2 installed when I tried it. Appreciate it!

I have this same problem too...

1607: Unable to Installshield scripting runtime.

I reinstalled Windows 2000 SP2 and it used to work, now it doesn't. Will someone who has fixed this problem please reply.

I would recommend uninstalling all current LimeWire versions in the Control Panels>>Add/Remove Programs window, restarting your machine, and running the installer again.

If this does not work and you are getting the 1608 error, you can also follow the instructions in our FAQ at:

Here is InstallShield's diagnosis and solution for the 1607 problem:

Cause:
This error will occur if the permissions are not set correctly on the Installer folder found in the Windows folder.

Resolution:
If you cannot find the Installer folder it may be hidden on the system, in which case you can unhide it by going to Tools->Folder Options from Windows Explorer. Then, choose the View tab, and choose the "Show hidden files and folders" radio button under Files and Folders\Hidden files and folders.
Once this is done, right-click the Installer folder, and choose properties. Go to the Security tab, and make sure that the system as well as the user name trying to run the installation has full control on this folder.

Are you getting the 1607 or the 1608 error? If you're getting 1608, we have recently added an FAQ item for it at:
