Angry Me too!

Yes!
I was having the same problem, so I tried to uninstall limewire, and I only got a partial download. WTF????? Now instead of limewire popping up every minute, I have an Error message that says Limewire has corrupt files that pops up every minute. Help!!!!!!!!!

It's probably a virus. See these two threads:

LimeWire continually Popping up every few seconds & also Opening at System Startup,

WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of!

If you have trouble getting rid of it go to NorbiesWorld (click on link) >> Viruses, Trojans, Spyware etc & All Other Computer Help!

I Started My computer up in safe mode, and deleted all the limewire files. it seems to have fixed the problem.

I hope so but i have my doubts. The virus affects LW but is not installed within LW.

Default Correct

pac, you are right. I still don't have ctrl+alt=del use of my taskmanager. Also I dont have any .exe taking up process space, so I don't know what to do. I currently don't have limewire installed, and spybot/ad-aware aren't helping. This sucks, it makes me so frustrated. I tried to do the whole process of steps that are lsited in the virus thread, but I don't have the same thing.
Can any body help?

everett,

I've never had that virus and wouldn't feel comfortable offering advise on how to remove it. If your having trouble go to Norbie's World get registered and he will help you.

Good luck.

Pac
I was able to get one of my genius friends who knows a registry pretty well to check mine out. I had a gnarly hack called "win32.exe." As soon as it was gone My comp worked like new. I have some renamed registry files, but i'm pretty sure just a repair from my CD will fix it. needless to say I really don't feel like I wil ever be comfortable downloading files on limewire again.

Hi everett,

Thats good to here that you got the virus under control. In the future be careful to notice the file size. Any files smaller than 1MB(1000KB) other than a pic or a text file is probably a virus. Be especially careful downloading program files like exe, zip, ect. Your pretty safe with mp3, mpg, and avi. You should have an up to date anti-virus and scan any suspect files. The link I gave for Viruses on network has a lot of useful info in it.
