My email address is not recognised in Limewire Support, therefore I cannot download LW Pro v4.x again (reason being that I had to re-install my PC).

Also it appears that after the original one-time payment, there are no further charges. Do this mean that the owner of LW Pro has indefinate access to music and other media files, without any further subscription fees or charges? If not how does one opt out?

I'm sorry to say but you've been scammed. There's no one time payment. Pro costs US$18.88 for 6 months worth of updates & email support. Basic is free. The only place to get an official, clean version of LW is www.limewire.com

As far as I know I did purchase LW Pro from www.limewire.com

After the 6 month subscription expires, is that it? No auto-renewel (if one does not elect to re-subscribe).

No, there's no auto renewal. You'd be offered a renewal at a reduced fee, that's all.

Sorry if I made you panic, lots of people get scammed with once only payments offering a "lifetime membership" & end up getting doctored versions that don't work properly or contain malware!

I should also have asked: Do you know anything of the web site free-limewirehq.com (curiously, this site accepts my email address, however www.limewire.com does not).

Hmmm...maybe you got LW from that site? It's definitely not the real thing, I just had a look at it.

If you did get LW from here, it's still dodgy. Even though you didn't pay for it. Because LW is open source, it means that scammers can doctor it (add spyware etc). This is the reason that people are always told to only get it from the official site.

If you want to upgrade, please do it from limewire.com...then you won't have spy/adware problems. You don't have to buy Pro, you can get the latest free basic version & try it out.

It seems you have cleared my suspicions.

I have not been charged anything beyond the initial purchase ( as far as I know through the official site, as I recognise the screens, from last Sept/Oct).

Therefore will resolve to leave it at that.

Sorry to trouble you again (I know I said I’d leave the matter, but…..)

I can’t contact the official LW Pro site for support, as it does not recognise my e-mail address.

The LW site doesn’t seem to have e-mail contact otherwise nor a postal address. Would you, per chance, know of a way of contacting them (other than phone).

A big ask, I know, but will appreciate any help you can give me. So that I might find out if indeed I paid them (the charge on my bank statement is ip-mp3support.net which is the manner that the other site says it will bill, of course one could expect that they would mirror the official site’s manner of posting charges).

I have the password issued by return e-mail (at the time of purchase). But there doesn’t appear to be a provision on either of the sites to use this.

The charge on my CC for buying the official Pro is to

But you have to understand that there's nothing that LW can do in cases where the program wasn't purchased from the official site." ip-mp3support.net" is not www.limewire.com

Limewire doesn't issue you with a password when you buy Pro. If you contact anyone from LW about this (as per the link I gave), please refer them to this thread (copy & paste the url into the message) so that they can see what is going on.

If you paid ip-mp3support.net for your version, you did not get it from the official site. They probably gave you a link to the official site after your payment was processed. It is still a scam and there is absolutely nothing that LimeWire can do for you, except advise you to stay away from these scammers in future.
