random sharing violations? I'm having an obnoxious problem, and I narrowed it down to Limewire-- when it's running, I can't move or rename certain files in the shared directories. I get the windows error: "sharing violation: the source or destination file may be in use". Not all the files, but always the same ones-- about 75% of the total in the shared directories. If I exit limewire, the problem goes away. I'd love to share all my files all the time, but I occasionally need to make changes, and I don't want to have to exit and restart limewire every time I want to rename something. Anybody else have this trouble? i'm running limewire 1.8 on win2k 5.00. |
more of the same so it turns out that I can't delete those files from within Limewire either! While in the library tab, if I try to delete one of those files from the listing, I get a limewire error box: "Unable to delete the file '[name]'. It may be in use by another application." Nothing else is running, and I have no uploads, so as far as I know, it isn't being transferred anywhere. double-checking shows that the same files I can't rename in windows can't be deleted by limewire, but everything else can-- and it's still about 50% of the files... and exiting limewire again solves the problem. I suspect that Limewire's tying up these files somehow and doesn't know it. Is this just a bug, or solar flares, or what? |
