You are talking about Limewire, are you?

Which operting system do you use?

I need this information to move this thread in the right forum!

Lightbulb quick ideas

First make sure you have the correct video playing software for the file type. ie for a *.rm file you need real player and .avi you need windows media player. If it's an mpg, mpeg, or avi and it won't play, in my experiences around campus, most people with that problem need to download the divX codex. http://www.divx.com/download/downloadlist.php?typeid=1 . If these two quick fixes are not the problem, please send some more info so we can help you out better (like the file extension and what program you are trying to use to play it. what version of windows, macOS you use. and anything else that might help us better help you).

Try question 5-3

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...&threadid=3328

Quote:
5-3Q. I get the message "Couldn't open the file _______, because the file name was bad". What does that mean?
5-3A. All current operating systems have a maximum file name length. Rename the file you are trying to use something shorter. File names with information about the file are useful when browsing potential downloads, but keep this to a minimum length to avoid getting this error. This is most often seen with AVI files and Windows Media Player.
