Below is what UKbobboy01 sugested you do.
After reading through the thread it seems to me that the culprit, which starts during windows start-up, is juschek.exe.
I suggest that mattieb, and anyone else that has this problem, to start up their PC in safe mode and delete the java directory (and especially juschek.exe) then restart their PC and then use Add/Remove to get rid of the remaining java installation.
Finally, download the java installation file (which is nearly 60Mb) to a new, empty directory/folder and then run the new java installation from there. Do not, under any circumstances, load java from the internet/web site, i.e. Online installation, always choose the "Offline Installation".
