Questions on BSOD I started getting the BSOD lately. I dont get it when I turn on "Automatically Restart" under system failure in Computer Properties, but my computer just automatically restarts instead without the BSOD Basically, this error occurs whenever I try to Connect in Limewire. Java doesn't seem to be the problem. I've lately also gotten my computer reformated and upgraded. I have an Intel Celeron Processor, not sure what kind. And Im not a computer expert. I've read through many posts, and I've come to a couple of conclusions. But I have a couple of questions regarding them: I've read that one solution to this problem is to download Service Pack 2. Can anyone give me a direction link to it? How can I tell if I already have SP2 installed? -because SP2 might be causing the problem instead- I've also read that I have to download some new driver (2200BG), but isn't this causing the problem? I might come up with some more questions. But any help would be greately appreciated. |

You can download SP2 from here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx If you already have it installed, your little windows progress bar (that you see when your Win is loading) will be blue. SP2 has caused quite a few connection probs (totally stuffed mine) for some people. Maybe you should use the search & look for info about it before you install it. You may need a patch for it if it does cause you trouble. I guess you've seen this thread (with it's heaps of links about BSD)? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...&highlight=bsd |

Ok I have SP2. I have some more questions Now could the BSOD be caused by SP2? Or the 2200BG Intel Wireless Chipset? Is there any way to uninstall SP2 and go back to SP1? Where is the link on Intel's website to the driver update version 9 for the 2200BG? Thanks |

I reformatted and upgraded because my computer was overloaded with so many things. Best Buy's "Geek Squad" reformatted my computer, and they installed windows. But chances are it could be the 2200BG Intel Wireless Chipset. How can I find out if I have that installed on my computer? Limewire restarts my comp everytime I try to connect, but it doesn't restart if I just leave the limewire window opened while im disconnected. It could be somesort of connection malfunction, thus which might be related with the 2200BG Chipset. By the way, anyone happen to have the link to Intel's 2200BG Intel Wireless Chipset driver update 9? But in the end, all I know is I just took it to the Geek Squad to have my comp reformatted and upgraded. |
