Default J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3

When I installed Limewire, J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3, was also downloaded.
It now shows up as a large file in my control panel 117mB, and rarely used, although I use LW often.

The question is, can I now delete J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3, without affecting limewire performance ??

Cheers...

Do you have another version of Java or just that one.

Then if you want to use LimeWire you will have to leave it. But you can go to add and remove programs in your control panel and see if there is more than one version of java. If there are you can uninstall all but the most current version.

The beta 6 version installer is 18MB. The unpacked install is is almost 300MB if you install both the tool kit and runtime. The unpacked install of java is big on windows.

Are you sure it was the JRE version & not one of the other versions? It sounds to be too big to be the "general" use version. I'd recommend uninstalling it. Then reinstalling using the latest. In fact, I'd recommend installing the beta Java 1.6 http://java.sun.com/javase/6/download.jsp (JRE "Offline" version) which is a 15.72 MB

BTW you will need to uninstall "ALL" your java versions before you install Java 1.6 or else Java 1.6 won't load when you run LW.
Use your Add/Remove programs control panel to remove your java versions.
