![]() Does limewire detect firewalls that aren't there??? I have windows firewall turned off on my computer and that is the only firewall installed on my computer... Windows security center reports I have no Firewalls on.. I have a linksys wrt54g wireless broadband router and I am sure I have the firewall disabled I go to firewall settings for router and uncheck the items listed, that is the only way I can see how to disable the firewall... If that is the wrong way could someone enlighten me???.. But limewire is still detecting a firewall with a brick wall in front of the globe... Bug Report Incoming session always shows false.. When limewire is telling me it has detected a firewall, is it telling me I actually have a firewall on???.... Because for the life of me I can't find one, I've tried everything for weeks now... If there is a brick wall there, shouldnt it prevent me from downloading at all or would it affect the speeds of my downloads and uploads???... I can download and upload and have no problems connecting... My ISP tells me there is no firewall in my ZYXEL DSL 660 Modem (3.0M/512kb) Sprint is my ISP...I have no software firewall from my isp installed on my computer... That only leaves my router and windows firewall... Sorry so long winded but I have been researching this for weeks now and am at my last gasps... Is there a way of finding out what firewall limewire is detecting... Thanx for your response... PopMal |

![]() What firewalls and router do you have? If your using XP it has a firewall also. Advisable not to have two firewalls on at the same time. Have you seen this thread: Connection problems? Check here first!. Post back with more info on your setup and we'll try to help. OS(Win XP etc) LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see) Firewall you're using Modem/router brand & model ISP Connection type (DSL etc) Where you connect from (home, school etc) Are you sharing a connection with other computers Is this your first try with LW

![]() Hi HoLy.SHEET ![]() Didn't mean to imply that you were a noob or didn't know what you were doing ![]() Are you still able to download and upload ok? Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? If you haven't already, try setting your D-Link DI-624 router to UPnP. Here's a thread that suggests that your isp may be throttling P2P apps: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...light=Optusnet. If thats the case try changing the listening port for LW to one between 49152 - 65535. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & see the option at the top for listening port. Press apply after making the change. Then go to menu bar, File >Disconnect, wait a minute, then Go back & select Connect. See if that helps. When all else fails, try deleting your limewire pref folder while limewire is closed. Points #2 & 3 in this thread: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=36420. Doing so will change all the LW settings back to the default. You may want to make a note of them first. I hope this helps a little. I'm leaning toward it being your isp, but I don't know.
