Limewire takes 99% CPU Whenever Limewire is open, it takes 99% of the CPU. Sometimes it'll drop a little lower while I perform other tasks but for the most part it's never dropping below 80%. Basically I just dont run it when I need to use the computer but downlaods are sometimes so low it'd be nice to have going constantly. Anyone experience this? I searched but didn't find anything. Thanks, ~Marshall |
I've disabled firewalls and anti-virus (both Norton) as well as Ad-aware pro's runtime protection program. Now When limewire is minimized to the system tray it just bumps aroun at 0-6% sometimes it spikes up to 99% though or right around there. 0-6% would be exceptable. But the spikes are fairly irritating as it causes video, music, or games to lag. Why would a fairly idle application spike to 99%? Do I get hit with a search or something? Is it possibly trying to find something to share outwardly (which of couse I'm fine with, but why's it need my whole processor. Watching it now for 2-3 minutes and it's not spiked to 99% again, but it does hit 30% at least once every 30 seconds. That might not be too bad. Still any tips/suggestions would help. System specs are: AMD 64, 3500+ (ya i know lame) 1.5 gig ram 10k RPM Raptor Harddrive WinXP Home |
Okay and so now I turn Firewall, anti-virus, and ad-aware back on and it doesn't have any effect. Seems like, thru my short testing, that if I have those off when I open limewire, thats what makes the differnece. Weird but whatever. Who knows what the hell a/v is trying to accomplish. It's a little odd at times. |
