Thumbs down Downloaded MP3 -no sound

After many months not using LimeWire, I decided to download one song but the system required for me to download the new LimeWire 4.12.4. I did, and installed.
I searched for the specific song, the system found dozens of files and I downloaded one of them. When I moved it to a special empty folder, and tried to play it, there was NO sound.
I downloaded another file, same result. I exited LimeWire and restarted it, same results.
What could be the problem?

Its likely that the files you have downloaded are fakes, have a long duration of silence, allot of sources, a capital M on the ".Mp3" and allot of results.

Look out for files that dont have a capital ".Mp3" and look for files that have names without capitals and with underscores and things.

I was not clear in my message. I default my downloads to a folder then I play the MP3 using Microsoft Media Player. This same player has no problem playing other MP3 already in my system. Only those downloaded from LimeWire -new version- are failing.
After testing downloads I move files to my permanent files. Even after moving the files to the permanent files the newly downloaded MP3 are not playing, they show it is playing, but no sound comes out. ONLY IF JUST DOWNLOADED FROM LIMEWIRE new version.

Unhappy Have Same Issue

I, too, am recently having difficulty with there being no sound on Windows Media Player. I decided to erase my RealPlayer because I prefer WMP. I used to have no issues, about two months ago. This weekend after trying to download some songs I can't hear sound on WMP but it is playing. The big difference is that the files are 18-22 minutes in length for a normal song. I can't figure out what I've done either. I've never had problems with fake MP3 files. Can anyone help us out? Thank you.

Firstly it is nothing to do with your player, but other things ...firstly check that your speakers are turned on or if not turn them on, if you can't turn them on plug them into the power socket, if they are turned on make sure they are plugged into the green hole (not pink or blue) on the back of the computer. If this is all done, restart computer. If you don't hear windows thingy at start, and you know you haven't disabled it then you have 2 problems. First one is check that volume is turned up, and not ticked mute.
second one if mute is on and volume up, is to check device drivers, it is quite easy until you install them.

Directions:
1. Right Click on "My Computer"
2. Left Click on "Properties"
3. Left Click on "Hardware"
4. Left Click on "Device Manager"
5. In List you will find "Audio", expand this.

Now, if you see either yellow question marks or nothing, then you are in serious trouble, this is because you have:
* No device installed (none)
* No drivers for device installed (Yellow Question Mark)
* Corrupt Drivers (Yellow Question Mark)
* Generic (Yellow Question Mark)

This is when I recommend you speak to local technician, and ask for installation of device drivers - audio!!

That's a very sweet explanation Dreamtech. But you seem to have overlooked the fact that the user can play (and hear) other files already on their system.....
For me it seems to be clear that the user has a codecs issue, either not the right ones installed ot those installed being corrupted due to an abundance of codecs......
In either way, making a test with the VLC player (which has built-in codecs and doesn't have to rely on the WMP codecs) will certainly clear the picture....
