Getting massages about getting hacked Hello. Well when im on limewire it popps up windows from my firewall, that im getting hacked. This only happens when im on limewire. Is it because other trys to download from me or is it anything other? |
Go to http://www.norbiesworld.co.uk/Downloads.html for a check up. |
What do u mean? what shall i check for? |
Go to Norbies' site to get him to check no spyware has landed on your computer. I'd also recommend Peerguardian (FREE). Check this Organisations trying to connect via Port 6346 These are also good: ad-ware (FREE), & also this Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE) |
I am guessing you are using Norton I have seen a few other post recently saying pretty much the same thing. It is starting to sound like Norton has added something lately. |
I've been using Norton stuff since I got a clue about a week after I got my first computer and figured out I needed a firewall and AV... I have noticed no such new thing with norton's products which is related to LW or BS...no pop-ups on my end, etc..and yes, I am fully updated... I am more a fan of some sort of virus/trojan has gotten in the box and has affected the AV and/or firewall (this can indeed happen, and yes I have had it happen to me)... I've got to agree with LOTR that you should be using PG2 when using the gnutella network, the **** thing lights up like an Xmas tree..sheesh.... |
Actually I remember getting a window pop up once saying a similar type thing about being hacked, but it wasn't when I was using LW it was when I was installing a free online game for my son.. I dont use Norton either, needless to say It was enough to make me panic and I downloaded the free trial of Edwido.... |
If you are getting pop-up messages then it is most likely not added to the firewall and the firewall is actually stated that unknown user is trying to attempt to access your computer, I would check firewall settings. I would also like to make a point that if you have more than one firewall to disable one, as they both cancel each other out, and makes your computer absolutely vulnerable. If you check your firewall settings and everything seems ok, I would then use spybot and check for spyware, however if you have the latest version of Norton Internet Security you won't really need it as it detects malware as well as viruses etc etc. |
