Error Message Just recently, whenever I start limewire, the first thing that pops up is an error message saying "Limewire was unable to write a necessary file because you do not have the necessary permissions. Your preferences may not be maintained the next time you start Limewire, or Limewire may behave in unexpected ways." I tried uninstall and reinstall, but the same message appears. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance. |
Delete LW's preferences folder (when LW's closed). See points 2 & 3 in the link below. Remove your current version of Java (add/remove programs) & reinstall JRE using the offline installer. See point 1 below. Fixes for LimeWire |
Thanks for the help Hi, Thanks for your help. However, I cannot locate the .limewire folder. I tried searching (with showing hidden folders) but there were no results. As for the Java, I have the most up to date version, so I'm not sure what else to do. |
If you're using a recent version of LW the preferences folder won't be called .limewire. It will be found within C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\LimeWire. The LimeWire folder is the one to delete. It's important that LW is closed while doing this... otherwise it won't work:) |
Thanks for the help There are two limewire folder. One with limewire only and the other is limewire20.dll, do I delete both or just one? THanks again. |
1 Attachment(s) Delete the one that says LimeWire only, within Application Data:) |
