I reciently up graded the Java and Lime wire.. to the latest up dates..
and My problem is.. that some how the Irfanview.. is comming up when the internet browser should be opening..
for instance : when i select "about limewire" under the help section..
the window opens up in a blank irfanview and says.. " Cant read file header"

Right click on file, choose open with>Programs then choose the program that you want to read the file and check "Always use on ...."

BTW I would guess that Java reads the file usually

I mean in c:Programs

Not in Limewire

Files that Java is suppose to open are .jar

If you can't see fileextensions then press start>controlpanel>folderoptions and chopse show common extensions + show hidden files and folders

BTW have no idea why IrfamView would associate itself with anything in Limewire. This is a new problem so these are just qualified guesses

Just to qualify.... I doubt that this problem had any thing to do with the new update.. i installed.. sorry if i implied that.. I'm sure it was some thing I've done in the past 6 mo..

I'v taken a break from limewire for a while.. I was having some trouble.. and thought it might have been?? related to a download I got there... but I dont know .. of course..

any how.. I just today got back.. on .. and was searching .. and noticed an up date so.. I installed it.. ... and the same thing happened before i put in the up grade.. ( that .. links want to open in irfanview.. strange..)

thanks.. I'm still looking on how to change my file associations..

I went into.. folder options and I think i followed directions.. like y ou said.. but .. alas.. still the same error pop's up..

NNNNNN E X T !!! please

bb.. waiting for instructions

PS.. I also checked Irfanview options / properties / extentions..
and I didnt see a .jar .. option in the list..
the only extention checked was .jpeg ... if that tells you any thing..

Sounds liked your browser has been hi-jacked by adware or spyware.

You need to get Adware SE, Spybot and possibly MS Anti-Spyware (Its changed it name now) and get this rubbish off your system.

Just remember, whenever you download anything always, always check it out with your AV app and always run two or three anti-spyware apps at least once a week.
