can i somehow download limewire 1.7
 

hello all

i just downloaded limewire 1.8 on to my windows 98 OS and when i try to run the limewire.exe after going thru 10 minutes of intsallation it eventually sais that it fails to instal the 'shield' that i gues is supposed to guide me throu the program. basically i just want to share and download mp3's. can anybody advise me as to what i can do or what i should do. should i try to download limewire 1.7. the link doesnt seem to work anymore.

I had given up trying to find 1.7c, even after searching google I kept getting version 1.8!!

1.7c Rocks!

1.8 Sucks!

Hopefully 1.9 will be an upgrade from 1.7 and not 1.8 which was a big step backwards

NB - Attn Limewire Developers

Just cos people use Limewire to download MP3's does not mean we need a sub-standard rip-off of winamp integrated into the program. Concentrate your efforts on the search and download side of things, and perhaps make the community tab do something more than just look pretty. If we want to play MP3's we'll use Winamp thanx!

1.7 & Communities
 

Hey - I use 1.7c and the much maligned 'Communities' tab works for me almost every time.

I have most success with Australia - but don't believe when it says 'failed to connect' give it another try and another, wait a moment while it's thinking about it- and it almost always connects.
Give it a go - but be patient - I got 700 hosts using this a couple of days ago.:)

For anyone out there reading this, the Communities tab is no longer a feature of LW as of version 1.8.
