![]() I have been using LimeWire for about 3 months and I love it until I opened it one day and a little grey box popped up that says: "LimeWire was unable to initialize and start. This is usually due to a firewall program blocking LimeWire's access to the internet or loopback connections on the local machine. Please allow LimeWire access to the internet and restart LimeWire." So...I have looked through my firewall and LimeWire is cleared. I have no idea about loopback connections? Please help...I also went online and the FAQ said that if you are using Norton AntiVirus do whatever but I have Symantec AntiVirus and it has nothing about loopback connections on it... ![]() |

![]() Try deleting LW's preferences folder (make sure LW's properly closed first), points 2 & 3 below Fixes for LimeWire Have you just updated LW? Are you using Norton's firewall? If so, try starting from scratch & reconfiguring the firewall http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...97&postcount=2 If you're not using the Norton firewall, double check your settings within whatever firewall you have. If that's no help, remove your current Java version & then reinstall JRE using the offline installer (point 1 in the "Fixes for LW"). Otherwise, have a look through this thread. It has heaps of info about firewall problems. If you're stuck, give us your details (post #2 will tell you the info we need) Connection problems? Check here first! |
