![]() Sounds like you both have a virus. Click on the link below for more info WARNING: Viruses on the network you should be aware of You need to make sure that you're using a good AV program. Keep it updated & scan all files that you download before opening. If you need help to remove the virus, you can go to Norbiesworld & get free computer help (Norbie has helped lots of LW users). Or...you can try the fix below (click on link). I don't know how well it works but you may want to give it a try. If it's no good, go & see Norbie:wink: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...&postcount=141 |

![]() Funny how this does NOT HAPPEN with any other program on my system, and I run the current Norton's,... So,.. try again,.... it ain't a virus. If this issue persists, or if someone who actually KNOWS what they're talking about can't help me, then I will simply remove Limewire. No loss for me,... |

![]() This **** program! i did that thing that one of you said earlier in the post (about doing it manually) and it worked.... the problem is that i like my music and it takes too long to use asurus (or however u spell it). so i re-installed limewire (btw... mine is limewire-pro). and it keeps starting up again... and no, it still minimizes into the system tray like one of you said to keep it that way. i dont think its putting viruses on to my computer or anything (it might... i dont know) but if anyone think that is is than tell me and ill just get rid of it all together. the only reason that i dont like it poping up is that its still running in the background (well... not truely running but its still a program thats open) and i like to have as few programs open as possible so my computer runs as fast as it can. so someone please let me know what i should do. |

several users have tried this fix and have it work. If it doesn't then no harm done. Are you sure you followed the instructions exactly. It is really important that you do. @Finglonga While I agree that Norton is a resource hog it is actually pretty good otherwise. It just sucks when it comes to this kind of worm. One of its key features is turning off essential processes for many popular AV programs. Also there are many variations of it so even if some get blocked others will pass through the defences @sdornbur You just uninstall Limewire and keep the worm, then I just wish you happy surfing with your disabled antivirus Here is some info on some of the variants. This is old and the worm has very likely been updated since then. http://www.brightmail.com/avcenter/v...gaobot.bc.html Last edited by Sleepless; October 13th, 2006 at 04:50 PM. |

![]() Norton can't detect all viruses out there. If you want to be really certain it ain't a virus, then go to Norbie's site & follow his directions. He "is" an expert!!! Won't take too much time. ![]() Make sure your LW's settings are thus: Tools>Options>System Tray & make sure it's set to Shutdown immediately. And don't download files smaller than 2,000 KB (2 MB) If you don't wish to use LW then fine. Run away. ![]() |
