New Spikes? i dont know if this is the place to post this or not but i heard a distressing new rumor that i need confirmed. i was told by a friend that the CIA jacked into LW and set motherboard frying spikes into the download files. i was told that once you opened an infected file, the computer would prompt a shut down and never ever reboot. is this true, or just another rumor to scare people? |

I've never heard of such a thing. It sounds like scare-mongering. Else it's related to Rootkits; WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! (click on link). But that's something organisations like Sony got into trouble over. But I doubt the CIA would be interested in p2p in any case. |

well, the entire story, the way i heard it, was the CIA got tired of the pirating so they placed spikes into the system. My friend's friend's computer was fried after downloading a file and opening it. He then called tech and they told him of the new problem. He was instructed to get rid of LW even if it was being paid for. If anyone has any experience with this then im not re-downloading LW, so, yeah. |

MoBo frying spikes eh? what a farking, lying, POS story...sheesus....and has your 'friend' told you just how this is supposed to be implemented???...hmmmm...whatever, its totally impossible afaik to do that once in the OS...the BIOS would have to be fekked with to changed voltages and such, and that is done before you boot into the OS... soooooooooo....yur story is a complete fabrication (aka LIE), and if there is any remote truth to the situation, the supposed computer tech is a lying thief who thumps his bible every chance he gets and lies to his customers so that he can spread his 'word' of anti downloading...have him contact me via this forum, and I'll be glad to arrange a meeting in person with him (and I'll surely have my 4' aluminum level in my hand) |
