Default Codec problem

When attempting to play in win media or real player I get an 'error downloading codec' message (there is sound but no Vid)

I then searched this forum and downloaded suggested VL program, now I have vid and no sound!

ANy suggestions?

'Cheers' in anticipation of a reply

We normally recommend VLC player but if it isn't working properly in that player & divx player can't play it properly, it might just be that particular video file. Did you try playback in roxio or nero? Also did you use bitzi to find out user feedback to see if others had same problem with the file? How to use Bitzi Web Lookup

This is happening in all movie files. The first one that I played worked perfectly and since then all dwnloaded videos have the same problem.

Good idea. Yes VLC does have other "hidden" functions in its settings.

Edit: you could also try rebooting & try playing them again without LW open.
