Hi folks,
I have just noticed that the version of LM I am using 4.12.6 has lost many of its buttons and spacers, despite the words (usually inside the buttons) remaining.
This is with the exception of 'restore & explore' on the Library page....which has come closer together.
I have also noticed the slide on the side of the 'downloads' has gone...even though I can page down....

There appears to be no real reason for this, although I am having probs with the machine shutting down recently due to a windows 'stop' error.

I am running a p4/1.7 on a throttled adsl (to 64 kbps). I have 767 mb of Sdram.
There has been no error message, just this 'native' version when I restarted it this morning.
I have also tried reinstalling..to no effect.

If anyone has any clues in regard to what may have happened, they would be very welcome.

ciao for now.

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) Then when you restart LW you will be prompted to reset your options so if you have any particular settings, make a note of them before you delete the LW prefs folder. But everything will go back to default so it should be ok after that.

Hi Lord of the Rings,

Thanks for the post and suggestions/links therein ( I read it all).
I had a bit of a job finding the '.limewire' file you refer to (in my case it is in the same folder as application data. not the application data folder).
In any event it was unsuccessful.

I wasnt prompted to redo my prefs...so maybe it wasnt the same folder.

It is really curious as even the panels re LM pro and the tip dont have white buttons around the words close/later etc.

Happy to try anything else (within reason hehe), that can be understood by a PC novice...

ciao for now

The folder you have deleted was the old preference folder of the previous version.
To find the one of the new version you should look in the hidden Application Data folder usually located at "C:\Documents and Settings\<your computer name>\Application Data".
If you can't find it, search for it using START>Search....>For Files And Folders... using the search query " LimeWire ". You'll have to include the hidden files in your search to get it shown.
After you found it (LW should be completely closed at that time; i.e. also in the system tray), delete it and the restart LW.

If that doesn't do the trick, then you might need to reinstall your Java. I reckon doing it in the following order:
Uninstall LW and all Java versions on your system. Reboot and then download the JRE offline installer of the newest Java version from here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
Install it and reboot again, then reinstall LW.

I do know on some people's systems they are best to reboot after deleting their LW prefs folder. Sorry FOTH not taking anything away from your advice, which would be the next options.

Thank you both for your response.

I did indeed show all hidden files and folders, and search as FOTH suggested. It looks like I will have to take the reinstall Java avenue in an attempt to fix.
I will come back with progress/success.

thanks heaps again.
