How about the support site for the mouse? They may have some pointers or feedback about this type of issue. There may even be a firmware upgrade or something. It's obviously happened to other people.

You could try running a registry cleaner after uninstalling Java. Might be something left over from the uninstall causing this problem. Or maybe try an older version of Java.
