Default Trouble with .wmv files

For some reason my .wmv files play very choppy. If I use WMP, or MPC they both play my .wmv files choppy. The sound quality is ok, but the video is just choppy. It is painful to watch. My .avi's and .mpegs work just fine. Not sure what to do about this, can anyone help?

This might be a codec issue see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=40665

Also this will be of interest http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=31862

My own advise would be to try and stick to avi and mpeg, but the codec link will hopefully give you some ideas ..

One reason could be if you have more than one codecpack installed, otherwise only the the same advise as OAH gave you.

.wmv is not a very trusted format on P2P networks. I know some people use it when making files themselves (private recordings from filmmaking clubs as stuff), but if you were in that category I guess some of your friends would have the answer.

Have you even tried scanning those files before playing them. God only knows what crap is embedded in them.
