Question LW lag and locking with new 4.12.9 (?)

Hi there,

Been using Lime for some time now, thats why I only upgraded to 4.12.9 2 days ago. Was a techno-prehistoric using 4.9 before, but at least it ran fine on W2K. Never had a problem, other than a TAD of slow download speed, but thats to be expected.

Thought I would get up-to-date, and downloaded 4.12.9, but the biggest immediate problem I have is that its start up and shutdown seems screwed. Also, it goes through period or running rreeeeaaaaalllllyyy ssllloooooowwllll-y-y-y-----y

It slows down to a complete crawl when I fire it up, and annoyingly, it hangs on shut down needing to quitted out by the Tack Manager everytime. It's becoming a pain, because I am used to it being reliable and just ticking over nicely, and my upgrading means I can't go back to the old functioning version which never had any issues with.

Any clues as to what might be causing this type of lag, and slow activity?...Also, what could be causing that inability to quit? Whats the best Turbo Charger around? Got pointed Pro 2.5 LW Accelerator but it doesn't seem to make much in the way of download difference.

Any advice much appreciated.

Your problems could be related to a Java issue.....
Uninstall LW and all Java versions on your system. Reboot and then download the JRE offline installer of the newest Java version from here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
Install it and reboot again, then reinstall LW.

There is no known batch/accelerator that would make your download speed faster......

Hi...Thanks for your help. Did exactly what you told me, but unfortunately this did nothing to improve the performance at all. Is there anywhere, or anyway that I can get my old 4.9 version back?....Because I have had nothing but problems since downloading and installing this 4.12.9 upgrade. It has just taken me 5mins 47secs to get into Limewire passed the 'Lime Pro prompt', its just rediculously slow. Any help all people?...Or shall I just chalk this up and uninstall it for good?

Regards
