Default This is weird...Nothing happening...

Hay all...Im kinda new to the whole Lime wire thing....but free files...sounds great...well not free...but for $18.88, this is a fun sight. Well my rig is a custom build with an intel mobo, a 2.8 P4, 512 mb ram, DVD Rom and DVD Burner, 120 gig HHD, Win XP...Im running LimeWire 4.12.6 Pro, Java 1.5.0_03. Well the problem is that im downloading songs and nothing is happening...The top 5 downloads say there connecting but no activity, all the others are queued or needing more sorces. Yesterday I had no problems downloaing...but today...this is getting to be a pain in the tushie(other words come to mind...but I'll be nice) I have tryed to disconnect and re-connect to limewire...but no help there, my firewall is on and is allowing uploads without problems(the brickwall and the globe are in the lower left hand corner)so I dont think there is a problem there. Like I sead, Im new to this...so any help will be great....thank you for your help.

There's no central server...you download by connecting to other computers. So...if people go offline that can disrupt downloads. If people don't have any free upload slots, that can disrupt downloads. As new hosts for files come online, downloads can start up again etc.

Files which sit connecting for ages & then need more sources but never begin downloading are likely fakes. Check the sticky below for more info
Fake files showing up in search results

Your download speed depends on your connection speed, host(s) connection speed, how many upload slots the host has open, how many hosts you're downloading from, how well you & hosts have their LW configured etc etc
Try the tips below for setting up your LW
Configuring LW for best performance
