Exclamation My media player won't play music

So I downloaded limewire right.. after installing, I downloaded a couple songs and they played just fine, and a few hours later.. it wouldn't play them.
I got this message:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

I really don't know what to do... It won't play them no more.. can you plz help me?

First thing that comes to mind is did you delete the files from your Limewire Library ??..if not it's just a case of getting the right codecs installed for your WMP...This thread will give you the info you need...

I have a question.. I can't get the LW media player to play any of the music I downloaded at all. I'm not recieving any messages saying anything is wrong. I downloaded videos and they were fine but for some reason my music wont play. I can't remember how to bring them into my WMP either. I am at the moment running windows 98 is that part of the problem? They all seem to have downloaded fine but when I click on launch nothing happens. I would appreciate any advice from anyone.. thanks

The LW Player doesn't work very well. Disable it by going to Tools>Options>Player(in LW), untick the box and click apply.

Now try launching a song and it will open in your default player(probably WMP). If it plays ok, then problem solved. If it still won't play, try a different player. VLC media player is a good one that will play most any media file.

For more info, see this sticky: CODECs list for Movies/Alternate players / Video help forums/ video-mp3 fixers
