Smile How to get limewire 2.02 basic to remove the ads!

I just figured out how to do this. I just found out that the new basic version of Limewire uses direct internet links to download the ads so killing the ads is even easier. To remove the ads go to C:\Program Files\LimeWire\2.0.2\lib\ads
First Close Limewire (exit completely!)
Then delete all the ad picture files.
OK, after that open up ads.props file with Notepad and out what I put here:

#
#Wed Dec 12 18:15:52 EST 2001
AD_ID=0
AD_COUNT=0

Just change
AD_ID=0
AD_COUNT=0
to zero and delete everything after that!

So finally it the ads.props file should look like this:
#
#Wed Dec 12 18:15:52 EST 2001
AD_ID=0
AD_COUNT=0

And with nothing under that! Then just save the file and close Notepad!
Then run Lavasofts AdAware (software spyware remover!) and scan your whole system and delete all the spywares!!!
Thats It! Now you have Limewire Basic with out any spyware or ads!

Question Hmmmmmm.....??????????????

Well, I ran cydoor_uninstall, then I used ad-aware to remove the spyware files and then ran Limewire. And it worked, limewire functions without spyware files recognized by lavasoft, still displaying the ads. They are no matter to me... But weren't those files necessary as an ad engine?

Thanks,
______Carlo

You don't have the lastest version of Limewire. You must have Limewire v2.02 or higher for this ad removal trick to work. PLease download the lastest version and follow my instructions.

You can modify the class file, to get rid of the ads.
See my posting in the "Open Discussion" thread.
