My computer freezes when using LW

Whenever i am using limewire, and only when using limewire, at some point my computer freezes, and the only thing i can do is reset...

Update your Java. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install the new one.

If things are freezing only when you're using (I guess you mean downloading) LW try these:
In LW tools > options > speed. Disable ultrapeer capabilities.
Reduce your upload & download bandwidth a bit.
Don't download too many files at once, just 1 or 2...same for resuming incomplete files.
Disable iTunes sharing.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried all of the suggestions posted and I'm still having the problem!

Same here

I've used Limewire without any problems before. But when I, a couple of days ago, opened it my computer freezed, and have done that every time I try to open it. I uninstalled it, but now when I'm going to install it again, it just works until I'm gonna open Limewire, then the computer freezes again and I have to restart it. And the installation never compleates... any (good) suggestions? PLEASE!

You could try the tips here Fixes for Limewire. That includes removing all previous Java versions, rebooting, then reinstalling Java offline.

Are you running Zone Alarm

Sometimes my Limewire will freeze up while I'm downloading but usually unfreezes itself. Sometimes it can be a long freeze up though.

Also, Limewire seems to hog up my computers energy. (LOL) When I run limewire it can be hard to browse the internet or work with other software cos limewire slows them down. And I can't even think of using Yahoo IM and limewire at the same time. They freeze each other up.

Do I need more memory?

See if the tips here help:)
Reduce the drag caused by LW

Thanks. It still drags but just not as bad now. :)
