![]() Hi, I am new to this forum, I have a machine that uses windows xp sp2 I am using LimeWire version 4.12.6... I have just reinstalled this version and was told that i'm behind a firewall, This is impossible because I have disabled them both. I have disabled Windows Xp's Firewall and Norton's Firewall and my ISP does not have one installed because I've asked them to disable it if they have had one enabled to my machine. My ISP ensured me that there was no firewall on my DSL line. So how do I get Limewire configured so that I'm not showing that i'm behind a firewall? Please Advise!!!! ![]() |

![]() Keep the XP firewall disabled (it will interfere with the Norton firewall) but configure the Norton to allow LW. If you're using a modem/router it could have it's own firewall - that might be what LW's detecting. Have you read this sticky (heaps of info about connection/firewall problems)? Connection problems? Check here first! If you're stuck, post some details System details - help us to help you |

![]() As I stated before, my ISP "Earthlink.net" does not have a firewall enabled on my modem and I do not have a router. I have already checked with them before on this issue... They at Earthlink, ensured me that there is nothing between me and them. I have no clue as to why LW finds a firewall betweem us. No Clue at all. I am using an HP Pavillion with an 1.8 Ghz AMD Processor that runs at 1808Mhz, 80GB of Harddrive Space and 512MB of RAM I use Windows XP Home Edition Operating System. And I am hooked up to Earthlink.net using 1.5MB Static DSL Connection. If This Information will help out any. I just can't understand why LW finds that i'm behind a Firewall... No clue at all ![]() |

![]() I have went to this site and it says it worked.... "1. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? If you can't reach that page it means port 6346 is blocked (often by your ISP). Don’t worry, most Gnutella clients will use a random port if 6346 is blocked. However, your ISP might filter Gnutella traffic." Does this mean my ISP don't have a firewall enabled? |
