Comodo firewall issue

Thanks to help received in this forum I have been using LW without problems for the last couple of months.

However, I recently changed my firewall to Comodo (from Jetico) and now see the firewall indicator (brickwall).

Having said that, performance doesn't seem to have been affected: searches return as many results, downloads are no slower and uploads take place regularly.

It seems curious that changing firewalls is the cause of the problem but Comodo is not blocking traffic; apart from the fact that searches etc. work fine, I can see the traffic flowing from within Comodo!

All suggestions gratefully received: a search of earlier posts here hasn't shed any light on the matter so I'm off to give the Comodo forum a try.

Thanks in advance.

The BrickWall means that incoming is blocked

Allowing Limewire.exe full access (Both incoming and outgoing) should do the trick in most firewalls.

If not then add the forwarded port to exceptions in the advanced settings (I'm guessing it has something like that. Haven't used it myself)

Within LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Check the number of LW's listening port & write it down.

Now open Comodo > Network Monitor. Click on Add.

Action: Allow
Protocol: TCP or UDP
Direction: In/Out
Source IP: Any
Destination IP: Any
Source Port: Any
Destination port: Choose 'single port'. Now in the box, add LW's listening port number > ok.

You'll see the new rule at the very bottom of the Network Control Rules list. Move the rule up, so that it's above any rules that are blocking (ie any rules with a red circle).

The firewall icon should go away now;)

Thanks for your advice and apologies for not replying sooner.

I've added a new rule as detailed above but I am still seeing the firewall icon.

I've checked within Comodo and LW has an unlimited application control rule as well as the network control rule.

Looking at the connections monitor, there is plenty of traffic (through a number of different ports, not just the LW listening port).

As searches, downloads & uploads seem unaffected I don't understand what is being blocked by Comodo.

Any further suggestions or an explanation gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Ummm...I don't know. I've never had any trouble with mine, once a rule was created.
In LW go tools > options > bug reports > view example. Scroll down to 'recieved incoming this session'...is it true or false?

Are you using Win XP? Go to control panel > windows firewall & check that the XP firewall is off.

Since your uploads aren't effected, it doesn't sound like a big drama. Does the firewall indicator show all the time, or does it come & go?

Also double check your port forwarding setup & make sure nothing's changed there.

Thanks for persevering Birdy.

In following your checklist I discovered something odd which may be relevant.

I'll get it checked out and let you know.

Regards.
