Unhappy Saved folder is empty!

I have searched through the forum for a similar problem and have not found one. Yesterday, my husband turned on our Limewire only to discover our entire saved folder had been wiped clean and Limewire was asking for a new designation for saved files. He designated our Media file, but I did not trust the fact that all of a sudden everything was gone and a request was made to designate another area in our computer. I un-installed Limewire, and when my fragment cleaner went to work, it found our saved folder in my program files. I cannot seem to delete our saved folder now, it says that the file "clink.jar" is being used by another program and cannot be deleted.

What I wanted to do was to completely un-install Limewire and attempt to re-install it again to see if that would clear up our problem. I hope someone understands what I am talking about. I was wondering if our Limewire had not become corrupted in some way? Thank you for your help.

Have you scanned for viruses? It sounds similar to a recent virus being spread around the network that erases your library and puts a bunch of exe files in your program folder.

Have a read through this thread: files from limewire converted into zip files

Yes, I made sure to do a scan right after he told me that had happened. Nothing was found. However, at the cost of looking silly I had a bright idea to re-start the comp after I posted. Once everything booted up, I was able to delete the Limewire folder from my program folder with no problem. Once that was done I was able to re-install Limewire with no problem, and our saved files were right back in our library. Strange. Thanks for the help tho.

mojo Hi.
LimeWire's shared folder is the subject for attac by hakers n the like.
What I have done, & many others do, is make a folder with a name that has
no relation to sharing, or L/W (Hennry's Groove) or somthing obscure. On another drive, then point L/W to it.
To do this Go to Start/My Computer, Doubleclick a drive D,E,F,G or whatever, Right click, choose New folder, name it, Then with L/W closed, Go to L/Wshared, cut & paste your files to the new folder.
Now! Open L/W Go, Tools/Options/Sharing/ADD,click on, look in, bar and navigate to your new folder. Highlight it and press select
Now! Open L/W Go, Tools/Options/Saving/Browse,click on, look in, bar and navigate to your new folder. Highlight it and press select.
You can make separet folders for Film,Music,Pic's n whatever you want,Just
ADD new & repete.
Peace.
