Corrupted Files Hi, I am new to the forum and I've tried to find something similar in the threads, but haven't been successful. I apologise if I have missed something. I am not very au fait with computers in general, so I have a problem that is completely confounding me: I've been using Limewire Basic for about 6 months, with no problems at all. Recently I downloaded a file that my internet security didn't seem to like, and since then, every time I download a video file, it corrupts. If I view it as soon as I download it, i.e. without logging off, I can watch the file without any problems, but , if I log off, the file is stored in the library as a zipped file (that wasn't what I downloaded) and when I try to open it I get the message 'File is corrupt from transfer'. Can anyone help with this, at all? Can I also ask that you try not to use too much techie jargon - I won't understand it. Thanks for your patience Sherry London UK |
You may have a virus. Try running AVG antivirus there is a free version at the link below. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5 |
Thanks, Grandpa, I tried that, but, unfortunately, it didn't work. Something that has started happening when I boot the computer, which I think is linked to this is I now get a black box open on the screen which is titled install.exe, no text in the box, then it closes. Do you have any further suggestion? Thanks Sherry |
Sherry Hi Use the link Grandpa gave you & Download the free antiSpywhare prog One of them sorts that worm out. Make sure u update the thing before scanning. Peace. |
