Default converting avi files to dvd

can anyone help me with any free pragrams to convert the avi files so i can burn them and play on my dvd player? all i can find on here is converters for macs. i have a pc with windows xp.

Super is a good free converter...http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

But if you need programs that convert and burn, but unfortunatley they are not free try either dvdsanta or nero..they both have good trial periods though...

i've downloaded super but im so confused?! i have no idea how to do it. a screen comes up which looks like its too long for my screen so i cant see the very bottom. at the top it has three boxes with select output container, select output video codec and select output audio codec. then loads of numbers below. i've right clicked on add multimedia file and i can see the file at the bottom but i have no idea what to do next! can anyone help? im totally crap at this kind of thing.

Try thr free trial period for Nero or dvdsanta, they have the step by step guides in the links I gave you....
