lime wire wont open!
 
I've been trying to open my lime wire program and it is impossible....anyone can help?:bangh:

NEVER MIND....JUST SOLVED MY PROBLEM!!

I have the same problem...Ive tried everything from reinstalling it to completely redownloading it, as well as redownloading java, but all that happens is the first limewire window pops open for a second but just disappears.

1. windows xp
2. i have mcafee i guess...but its never been a problem
3. How much ram? no idea
4. Hard Disk space available? you got me
5. Connection type? dsl, broadband whatever...

7. Where are you trying to connect from? my house
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? 4.12.11 and java 6
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? got me
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
it worked but my limewire still just looks like its opening for about 1 second then closes
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? i have a wireless router that send the connection to another computer
12. ive had limewire for awhile now and it never gave me problems until the other day
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? dude idk, all i know s that for some reason limewire doesnt want to open all of a sudden

Ok a couple of things you can try...
Uninstall your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....(4th one down)
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder...
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should


Still no luck...Who is your ISP..(Who do you pay to have your internet ??)

thanks man. i tried the older version of java before but made the mistake of saving it to my comp i guess...second time worked...

Yep you can, it won't hurt, if you do use the offline installer not the recommended one...
