 Can't Play AVIs--tried the codec already I have tried multiple times to download movies (avi's) from Limewire. Each time I download one, when I try to play it, all I get is audio. I have searched the troubleshooting and this forum, and nothing has helped. Do you have any suggestions? I've already tried downloading and installing the codec, although maybe there were more steps to it. When I start to play the movie in Quicktime, it says "Quicktime is missing the correct compressor". Help is appreciated! JK  |

 I had a similar problem with DivX AVIs... turns out that the newer codecs didn't play the older files well or at all in some cases. There is a 3rd party codecs pack named the "Nimo Codecs Pack" which has the older ones in there (I ended up finding it through DivX's message boards). Once I installed those, no more troubles. Maybe the same thing is happening in your case. |
