Default Can't delete one file from incomming folder

Hi
Have a strange situation here, can't delete/move/check with virus software one specific file from the incoming folder. No problems (till now) with any other file.
Using win xp home
Does someone have an idea what the problem is, why I can't delete/virus check this one specific file? It is a 2.49 mb large mp3 file.
Thanks for your help

Have you checked the

Properties

of the file ?

Is it a standard 'archive' or 'Read Only' or some other ?

Also... A typical reason for not being able to delete a file is simply because it is "active" at the time you wish to delete it... Prob in this case is that you should normally get a message telling you that !
EXCEPT, some bad stuff masks that message... Most Virus elim progs will also not be able to deal with it cuz they are limited to the same MS Explorer 'rules'...

There are some progs out there that can help you with this but they are 3rd party apps and I'd rather not mention them here for now... Hope that you can get a fix through general assistance here first...

Sounds like sumthin' bad to me, heh ?

Have you tried starting Windoze in Safe Mode and then attempt to delete this file ?

Thanks for your reply Ursula,
It supposed to be a MP3 file, but doesn't let me check the properties, (right click) only play, open, import to adobe photoshop, add to WMP, edit with notepad, open with and send to. All other files give me totally different options, including virus check (a-squared, Bitdefender and AntiVir)

I blocked the incomming file for distribution for the simple reason I don't want to spread out incomplete, junk and or virus infected files. After checking I move them over to my distribution files (5722 at the moment)

It seems like this file: [Edit] K Type: MP3-audio file (MP3) Size 2.49 MB is infected.
Thanks for the tip, I will have to borrow another keyboard to start the safe mode because mine is USB.

Default duebels conundrum

hello
I had a similar problem with deleting a file which seemed to be locked- found a prgram called "unlocker" on howtohaven.com: Tutorials and guides on how to do various things with your computer which solved the problem for me. freeware and source code is available so its worth a try.

Rock on.

Thanks for your tip Elgordos! I will give it a try.
It's ashame some members think to be "funny" to "share" trash like this, junk, fake files, virus' containing files here.
Often it takes some days until a file is downloaded and therewith nearly impossible to find out from whom it came to mark it as trash ie block the sharer.

Because my downloads don't work that well / fast I changed the 3 available connections. Then I found a tab "file collection"?? (Dateisammlung) (I use the German language of LM Dateisammlung) this particular file was listed there too. After marking it and click on the big red X it did delete the file also from my incoming folder.

Still the website howtoheaven.com contains many very useful tutorials and guides! Especially for computer "experts" (don't know anything about computer) like me...
