Files Organization I am experiencing difficulties when I attempt to organize my files into New Folders. Only 1/3 of the time will Limewire allow me to move files into New Folders. It'll take some, then none, then some, then none. Once I've tried to put a certain file into that folder and it fails, then it won't allow me to do it again. What's going on? I can't figure it out. |
This is a recent problem for LW. I usually move my files around on my HD when LW isn't running. But recently some people are experiencing difficulties even doing this. Idea from Mental Morris – Files that won’t delete These are special files(encoded) so they cannot be renamed or deleted.Sometimes they have very unsavoury file names that look bad! But you can always get around! 1.Any Mp3 like this, you have to play on your desktop player while recording a copy of it live with the windows Wave recorder. Then rename that new file to your liking.Create a new folder and drag the undeltable file into the new folder. Then delete the new folder.Folders can always be deleted including all their contents. 2.If its a Mpeg open it in something like paint shop pro 7 anamations and then save it as a large gif file of your liking.Again drag the undeletable file into a new folder and delete! Also this from Brian I found a simple way to get rid of unwanted files - use an Uninstaller program. One that works great and you can try for free is put out by McAfee. Their address is: http://software.mcafee.com/products/. I suppose the whole idea of the Gnutella network is to share files and I suppose I should put my copy of the program up there - once I figure out how! Don't know if this helps at all :) |
Files in use When I run Limewire, it won't allow me to modify existing MP3's in any way at all. Even mp3's I've had since before I started using Limewire. I never had this problem in v1.4. I'm not sure I understand this last reply to the other person's problem, but I do know that my computer tells me the file may be in use. I cannot rename, delete or move the file at all. Considering I usually organize my files on the fly from windows explorer, this is truly annoying. Waiting until Limewire is done downloading is not a reasonable workaround if you're downloading for hours and have 10 files to reorganize out of over 1000 files. You are bound to forget what you wanted to do after 4 hours if you're anything like me. |
