Computer Problems

New to LimeWire... Just downloaded it last week. So far I've been very pleased with LimeWire but something is up with my computer... It's VERY VERY slow to open up the internet and virtually any other application. Any ideas? Is this normal or have I downloaded a virus? I appreciate any help you can provide.
