Question Jre 1.4.0

Is Lime wire not supported with the new JRE, will there be a patch, I was able to get it working with the beta of 1.4.0, but when the final code was released it wouldn't work thereafter...any info would be appreciated...thanks

Once LimeWire is installed, it appears to work correctly under the final release of JRE 1.4.0 (I'm running 2.1.3Pro).

However, the installation script is what is broken since it will not install if JRE 1.3 is not installed, even if JRE 1.4 is.

I assume this is something that they're working on?

From what I've heard, Limewire 2.2 is designed to work on Java RTE 1.4SE. Try upgrading to the latest release of both LW and Java.

We are working on more ideal solutions to this. We may give people the option in the installer to either download the larger JRE (1.4), or to download the older and smaller one.

I got JRE 1.4.0 already installed. I tried installing LimeWire Pro 2.2.1 just now and during the installation LimeWire couldn't even detect that had JRE 1.4.0 installed and then asked to download JRE 1.3.1. WTF! Is LimeWire not keeping up with the times or something? Is this is what I paid $8.50 for??!!!!

Default cant install with JRE 1.4

LW2.2pro, win98se, JRE1.4...
Though not as volatile, I'm having the same trouble...

The installation script doesn't handle having JRE1.4 installed and aborts the installation if you quit the JRE1.3 install it tries to initiate.

JRE1.3 never worked well on my system, so reinstalling it is not an option.

Please make some noise when the problem is solved, thanks.

Default Workaround for installing with JRE1.4.0

I posted a workaround for this in the installation support board. It involves making minor changes to the registry, so be forewarned.....

Angry Java update breaks Gnotella

2.2.3 insisted on updating JVM, and now my Gnotella program won't work unless I uninstall Limewire. Only thing is, Limewire doesn't handle the incomplete folder anymore, so what's a body to do? Swell. And I actually, for once in my life, paid for the shareware.

WHERE ARE THE TECH SUPPORT PEOPLE!!!

Default LW w/JRE1.4 brute force workaround

You'd have to be crazy to do this but it works....

Uninstall JRE1.4
reboot
Install LW2.2, let it install JRE 1.3
reboot
uninstal JRE1.3
reboot
install JRE1.4
reboot (just for old times' sake)

the 'shortcut' to LW won't work, it's looking in the jre.13 folder.just create a new shortcut to lw in the program files dir.

LW works a-okay.
