![]() The more I see all the posts and think about all the problems I am having with this version of Limewire I am concluding that Limewire sucks! I am Mr. No-Tech and am getting older and stupider day by day. I don't understand most manuals and information sheets. I have so many issues with LW now that I don't even know where to begin asking for help. HELP! Last edited by scully23; September 23rd, 2008 at 04:28 AM. Reason: miss-spell in title but can't edit that???more sucks! |

![]() Replying to my own post: first both songs I downloaded had trojan virus, my Spyzooka took care of that. Now the 2 songs sit there as they will not move to my library, will not launch and now itunes tells me that this version of LW is not compatible with them. WTF! what do I have to do to get some music? take graduate classes at MIT? give Mr. Gnutella head? pay for music? this is getting real drastic! |

![]() Here's a good place to start: MAJOR TOPICS for Upload/Download HELP Unfortunately the gnutella network is being flooded with spammers in an attempt to prevent copyright sharing. There are different types of audio fake files. One type of audio file, be it an mp3, mp4 or wma is actually a virus program masquerading as audio files. Another kind of audio fakes are files that have deliberately been made corrupted. Their file size does not match their bit rate. There's also another kind of spam where you get recordings of clinton. If you hover your cursor over an mp3 in your search results and it does not show any tag information, then there's a high chance it is a fake. Some fakes do have tags but with minimal information, in which case check the file size and the bit rate as suggested above. Stay away from audio files that are less than 2,000 KB (2 MB) in size. But also stay away from a couple other sizes that are spammed. Here's a post with example file sizes: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...tml#post327233 The problem with iTunes is it has changed its library sharing technology slightly. LW will eventually be changing to it. But you can still use iTunes without it. Files shown already downloaded in the LW LIbrary window, those that show in the Saved Files folder, will not show in the Shared folder unless they are shared files. ![]() As for adding files to iTunes, see How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes) {click on link} OH .. here's one of the companies that spams the gnutella network: Mediadefender |

![]() Seems like Limewire has seen its day if they can't control or at least filter all this schlock that gets through. I never did get the song I wanted and although appreciate all that you said I am not about to go through all that just to get a few free songs. Not really free cos I am paying for pro..and don't understand or know how to use 98% of it. |

![]() Not a lot of difference between LW Basic & Pro. Arrange search results by size (click on link) will help you arrange search results so you can view their sizes & know which are good or bad. Stay away from files below 2,000 KB or 5,611 or 3,787 KB or 3,462 KB. But if you cannot even click on links to see what you need to do to add songs to iTunes then nothing more for me to say. Another method is to Disable LW's media player under options. Then Launch the music files you downloaded. |
